The <footer> Tag

The <footer> tag defines footer for a part of a document or a section in the document.

Footer tag can contain things like copyright info, name of the writer or owner, terms of use or privacy options links, the date the document when it was written or contact information of the writer, etc.

It is also not necessarily that a footer tag should be kept at the bottom of the page. It can appear anywhere in the document.

Note, it cannot be placed within a <header> or another <footer> tag.

To display all the extra info, footer tag can be used in several places in a page.

Example code:

<html>
  <body>
    <header>
      <The Footer tag>
    </header>
    <article>
       This is the article part of the page.
    </article>
    <footer>
       Copyright 2010
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>
